Yes I know where the pw would be saved but removing the cmos should have cleared it. I did miss the reply about that apologies.No need to apologize, and I didn't want to sound rude.In case of older laptops removing the CMOS battery would clear the pw, but in newer models for stronger theft protection they use eeproms, that will remember no matter how long you have the battery out.Of course I found the paid BIOS password removal sites, but I wasn't sure i would get the working code for my money.:-)Acer wanted me to send it back to them to remove the pw. All for?55+ postage.Because this is one of the many laptops I got as a job lot from the UK i have to check if it worth repairing before i spend any money on it.
